HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT THE BACUP NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY  As with all businesses and charities facing an uncertain start to 2022  due to Covid, we need our supporters more than ever to ensure our continued survival  and your donations and support really do make a difference. Your donations ensure we can care for our collections, run exhibitions and events, and provide school visits and family activities. Although we have previously applied and been successful in receiving small grants from the Bacup and Stacksteads Community Forum, we receive no regular funding from Rossendale Borough Council or Lancashire County Council; and although we have previously applied for one off project funding from local and national grant-giving bodies such as the National Lottery Heritage Fund this has not been possible over the past 22+months. By supporting us through an annual membership, one-off donation, regular giving through one of our  patron and friends schemes, or by becoming a sponsor or volunteer, you will help to secure the future of this eclectic and unique Bacup treasure.

PATRONS & FRIENDS We are delighted that our Patrons/Friends scheme continues to be a success; to date we have 7 Patrons and 7 Friends and this scheme continues to go from strength to strength.  The additional income from this scheme contributes greatly to our finances without which it would be difficult to continue.  Our Patrons are Mr M Priest, Mr M Walsh, Ms A Gissing, Mr P Hindle, Mr P Hargreaves, Canopy Products and an anonymous member from Rawtenstall. Our Friends are Mr C Lupton, Mr W Stead, Mr T Bennett, Mrs M Connolly, Mr D Hargreaves and Mr K Burke and an anonymous member from Bacup. We have recently, by request drawn up a ‘Subscribed Life Membership’.  Basically this means our member pays a subscription of £125.00 for which they then have life membership.  As a patron you will receive invitations to patron and friends only events and full acknowledgement of your contribution by name in our publications.  To find out more please email us
LEGACIES & BEQUESTS   If you have enjoyed your visits to the museum why not consider leaving us a gift in your will. A gift in your will no matter how small will allow us to continue our work for future generations and have a lasting impact on the development of the museum, helping us to meet the needs of the local community and new audiences. There are several ways you can leave money to the museum in your will: • A pecuniary gift: a fixed sum of money decided by you. • A residuary gift: the amount of the whole or portion of your estate after other legacies, inheritance tax and expenses have been paid. • A specific gift: a bequest of specific personal possessions. • In-memory donations in lieu of flowers or via collections in support of the Bacup Natural History Society are also another option. If you are interested in discussing options please contact the museum or speak with your solicitor, when you may be asked for the following information: Charity name: Bacup Natural History Society Our registered address is 24 Yorkshire Street, Bacup, Lancashire  OL13 9AE. Our registered charity number is 1054767 (CIO Registered in England & Wales)
