17th May 2018    AGM 7.00 pm – followed by:- ‘The Origins of Street Names’ by Peter Watson.  A light-hearted look at how place names have evolved over time.  21st June 2018 To Be Announced. 19th July 2018 “Owd Bacup” by Wendy Watters.  The return of an old favourite. 16th August 2018 “The Manor House at Ightenhill” by Roger Frost.  The archaeology of this ancient Burnley site.   20th September 2018 “Rogues & Villains” by Graham Kemp.  Concentrates on inmates of Lancaster Castle Prison from the year 1800 until 2000, by the Assistant Manager of the museum. 15th November 2018 “Tales from Old Bacup” by Ken Bowden.  A look at life a hundred plus years ago (with a few later glimpses). December & January No Lectures 21st February 2019 “The Industrial Revolution from Cottage to Mill” by Lavinia Tod.  Looks particularly at the reasons why Lancashire was ideal for cotton production. 21st March 2019 “Owd Stacksteads” by Wendy Watters – and another return of an old favourite! 18th April 2019 “Lantern Slides” by Wendy Watters and Ken Burke.  Relive the fascination of the ‘magic lantern’.
